Perma-Chink revolutionized the log home industry when it launched in 1981 — it was the original elastic chinking, and more than four decades later it has been proven on thousands of log homes to become the most widely applied chinking in the world. It looks and feels like traditional mortar, but it's a pure acrylic that bonds to the logs and stretches as they move, maintaining a tight seal where rigid mortar would crack and fall out.
That elasticity is everything in Colorado. Our logs move more than almost anywhere — swelling and shrinking through 60-degree temperature swings, drying in high-altitude sun, and settling under heavy snow loads. In our 26 years of chinking log homes here, Perma-Chink's combination of adhesion, elasticity, and blister-proof, slump-free application is why it earned its reputation, and why we're certified applicators of it. Sealing the gaps between logs eliminates the heat loss and air infiltration that make older mountain log homes expensive to keep warm.
What we really like is the wide variety of color choices we can use on our Colorado log home restoration projects. With ten colors — from classic White and Mortar-style Stone to Tan, Cedar, Brown, and even Black — we can match the historic white chink lines on a mining-era cabin, blend the chinking into the stain color on a modern estate, or create bold contrast lines that make a log wall pop. The right chink color changes the whole character of a home.

Perma-Chink Color Options
Ten colors — the widest chinking color range we work with, and one of the reasons we love this product for restoration. Screen colors are a digital representation; actual cured product color will vary, so we confirm with physical color cards on your logs.
How It's Applied Right
- • Applied at roughly 3/8″ thickness over backer rod or bond breaker
- • Chink seam sized to about 1/6 of the log diameter
- • Surface must be clean, dry, and free of oils and wax
- • Applied between 40° and 90°F, out of direct sunlight
- • Skins over in 1–2 hours; fully cures over 2–8 weeks
